Physical Education and Sport

Physical Education and sport are crucial elements of a student’s life, and integral to their health and wellbeing. Ajman Academy boasts modern facilities that are available to students, including two sports halls, a 25m swimming pool, full-size outdoor football pitch, two tennis courts, five-a-side football pitch and an outdoor volleyball and basketball court.

Ajman Academy offers a wide range of learning opportunities through the curriculum. All students have two sessions of PE each week, and they focus on participation, progression and engagement and provide students with the chance to undertake a variety of sporting roles. The program includes units on the following.

• Swimming
• Invasion games: basketball, football, netball, rugby, handball
• Net and wall games: badminton, tennis, table tennis, volleyball
• Striking and fielding games: rounders, cricket, softball
• Teamwork and initiative games
• Aesthetic activities: parkour, gymnastics, dance
• Health and fitness
• Athletics

Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs) are also another great opportunity for students to balance their curriculum and lifestyle. They occur after school hours and include many fun and engaging activity options.

Sport at AJAC comes under two categories, house sport and inter-school sport. Being part of a team is a fantastic way to build social skills and connections.

House sports this year will include the Sports day for primary students, and athletics, volleyball and dodge-ball tournaments in secondary.

Ajman enters many local tournaments and competitions in the EISSA organisation, which provides the pupils with a chance to compete against other schools and further develop their skills and teamwork. All students are welcome to join the squad teams at Ajman Academy.

The swim squad is regularly in the pool training with our swim coaches. The swimmers compete locally and also in international events such as the BSME and MEUC swim galas.
