    Nicola grew up in Auckland, New Zealand where she completed all of her schooling. She graduated from Massey University with a degree majoring in Psychology. She then went on to gain her teaching qualification through the University of Auckland in 2014. Nicola has lived and taught in various school settings across the United Kingdom, New Zealand and the UAE. In 2018, Nicola moved to Dubai and has been teaching at an outstanding British curriculum school since then. She is very excited about joining the community at Ajman Academy in the new academic year. Her expertise lies within the Early Years and she is passionate about child development and meeting the needs of each individual child. She believes in building strong relationships with her students and their families and takes a holistic approach to teaching and learning. Nicola's aim is to foster a happy, safe and fun environment for her students, and she wants them to love going to school to grow and develop. In her spare time, Nicola can be found swimming at the beach, enjoying breakfast at a cafe or exploring the natural beauty that the UAE has to offer!

    Nicola was born and raised in Liverpool, UK. She graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BA (hons) Degree in Geography, which was always one of her favourite subjects at school. She worked in finance for a year, while volunteering at a local primary school. From a young age she always wanted to be a teacher and her passion for teaching and working with children continued to grow. She decided to complete a primary PGCE (specializing in Geography) at Liverpool Hope University. She taught for 2 years at a primary school in the UK before moving to UAE in 2010. She has worked at Wesgreen International School in Sharjah since then, teaching Grades 1 and 2. She now lives in Ajman and is married with two daughters.

    Nicola believes that every child is unique and loves getting to know the children in her class. She creates a safe, happy and inclusive environment within the classroom, where every child feels they have a voice. She believes in her students’ ability to shine and guides and supports them to reach their full potential. Her interest in Human Geography means she finds opportunities in all lessons to facilitate critical thinking and develop her students into global citizens.

    In her free time, Nicola enjoys making memories with her children, travelling to new places and visiting Liverpool to spend time with her family. She enjoys cooking, reading and socialising with close friends.

    Rachel was born and raised in England. She graduated in 2003 with a BA (HONS) in Primary Education and English with QTS. She taught for 16years in 3 different schools in St Helens, taking on middle leadership roles as she progressed, and has taught children from Grade1-Grade5 in this time. She moved to the UAE in 2019 and has taught Grade 5 at RAK Academy with the responsibility of English for the whole school.
    Rachel is in the UAE with her two children, who both attend Ajman Academy – one son in Grade 5 and the other in Grade 7 at the High School.
    Rachel finds teaching a fascinating and rewarding experience. She sees no greater thrill than seeing her students achieve. She aims to help all students she teaches become responsible, caring, and productive citizens of this world. She believes in giving everything she can to the job and caring for each child unconditionally. Central to her ethos is the development of each individual. She promotes high self-esteem within a caring environment. She fosters a relationship of respect and trust so that children feel happy and secure. Learning is sensitively and effectively implemented so as to encourage, support, and motivate all children to achieve the highest standards.
    Outside of school, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She loves watching Football, Cricket, and Rugby League and enjoys exploring all that the UAE has to offer. She loves hiking, swimming, and watching her children compete in their numerous sporting activities.

    Rania Shibane is an Islamic teacher; she was born and raised in Damascus, graduated from Damascus University and had a PGDE from Ajman University. She has worked in Syria as a homeroom teacher and in the UAE as an Islamic teacher since 2011.
    She has attended many PYP workshops, and she is a certified Apple Teacher.
    She believes that educating is about setting a good example and that this method is more effective in students than any anything else. Her role in life is to build a generation proud of his Islamic moral values and openminded to other cultures.

    Reema is a Primary teacher from Jordan; she graduated from Mu'tah University with a qualification in Arabic language and social studies. Her experience varied over more than twenty years between Jordan, Oman and the UAE. She joined Ajman Academy when it was founded in 2012, where she took the role of “Arabic Studies Coordinator” until 2015. Reema loves her work and has a beautiful relationship with her students and believes that learning happens in an atmosphere of enjoyment, especially during her Arabic lessons.

    Rihab was born and raised in Egypt and graduated from Ain Shams University with a Bachelor Degree in Business. She gained experience in many different fields of business before finding her passion in teaching. She has ten years experience working in schools including 6 years as a Pre-Foundation Stage Coordinator in a leading British International School in Cairo, Egypt Rihab is a dedicated teacher with a passion for children’s learning and care. She believes that all children have their own unique talents and are able to succeed. By providing high quality planned experiences for the children in her care, she supports their learning in a way that is both enjoyable and challenging. As a teacher she provides the time, support, space, and appropriate resources for the children to thrive.

    Rihab lives in Ras Al Khaimah with her family and is a proud mother of three boys, Esmat 23, Mohamed 22 and Alister 8 who will be in Grade 3 in Ajman Academy this year.

    Robert has 27 years of experience teaching science and chemistry to A-level in both selective and non-selective schools in the UK. For the last 11 years, he has also taught IB diploma Chemistry to international students in an academy in the UK.

    Robert is resident in the south west of England and is married with three grown-up children. He has a BSc Honours degree and a Master’s degree in Geology and Geochemistry from the University of Manchester. He gained his teaching qualification (PGCE) at the Institute of Education in London. Working as a postgraduate student in the Austrian Alps lead to his love of mountainous regions.

    Robert loves that teaching and learning science is a collaborative and inclusive activity that gets us to think hard and critically analyse information. He believes that developing experimental skills and using scientific methods will help us understand the world we share and create a sustainable and healthier future.

    Robert has a passion for the outdoors and spends part of his spare time hiking, camping and running in the mountainous regions of the UK, Europe and Morocco. He is a Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition assessor and trainer and has helped many students gain their awards. He likes to travel and explore with his family and relaxes by cooking, reading and watching movies.

    Roisin Doherty was born and brought up in Ireland. She graduated from St. Mary’s University College of Queens, Belfast with a Bachelor of Education. Roisin has spent the last seven years teaching at Collegiate American School in Dubai. Before that, she worked as a primary school teacher in Sharjah for two years at Wesgreen International School and in Ireland for one year. From the beginning of Roisin’s career in education, she has had the opportunity to work with many families and parents to ensure that their child’s needs are met at school, and she is excited to continue with that while working in Ajman Academy. Roisin firm believer in keeping an effective relationship with the child’s home environment to ensure that the holistic development of students, socially, emotionally, as well as academically. School should be a happy environment for students to thrive and grow in every way.
    In her spare time, Roisin enjoys reading, travelling, exercising and, most importantly, spending time with family and friends.
    Roisin is married and has two children.

    Safiya has seven years of experience working in Early Childhood Education and six years of experience working within the IB curriculum (PYP). She also has nine years work experience in many different areas of work which include personal shopping, retail, customer service, legal administration and hospitality management.
    Safiya was born in Kuwait to a British mother and Palestinian father but lived and completed her whole schooling life in England.
    Having studied at Leeds Metropolitan University UK, She obtained a BA (hons) Degree in International Business and Tourism. During these four years, Safiya spent one vocational year working in the UAE. It was here during the time she spent volunteering in a summer camp that she discovered her passion for working with children. Safiya went back to studying and qualified as an Early Years Practitioner.
    She believes that every child is a unique individual and has the potential to bring something different to the world. By believing in them as capable individuals, she helps children to develop to their full potential. Safiya is continuously researching and looking for new ideas on how to continue to help the children in her class’s academic, social and emotional wellbeing. She also regularly attends professional development courses which contribute to her achieving these goals.
    In her spare time, Safiya loves to travel all over the world, spend time with her family, socialise with friends, keep fit by going to the gym and taking part in outdoor activities.
